Palestinian survivor meets Real Madrid stars

A five-year-old Palestinian boy who survived a firebomb attack by Jewish settlers met Real Madrid players during a training session. Ahmad Dawabsheh, the sole survivor of a Palestinian family whose house was burned down by Israeli extremists last year, was invited by Real Madrid and met the club’s players in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
“He is the best player, but I only see him on TV,” Ahmad told Anadolu Agency. “I wanted to meet Cristiano Ronaldo in person.” Ahmad’s grandfather, Hussien Dawabsheh, told Anadolu Agency that Ahmad was thrilled to receive an invitation to visit Real Madrid. On July 31, Israeli settlers set the Dawabsheh family’s home on fire in the West Bank town of Duma. The attack claimed the lives of Ahmad’s parents and his 18-month-old baby brother Ali.
Ahmed suffers from brutal burns that have severely affected his mobility. He will be back to hospital for treatment. The fatal event caused widespread anger that many analysts believe was the source of the heightened ongoing violence in Palestine and Israel.
